Jurga
Vilimaite
Jurga is a London-based artist and teacher known for atmospheric watercolour, expressive Japanese ink and dream-like oil. An MA graduate of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, she brings rigorous observation and gentle encouragement to both studio and classroom.

In Jurga’s words
“The aim is to show the essence of the object, the impression—not the semblance—to do with less.”
European heritage, Islamic clarity and Japanese restraint meet in a practice where unpainted space matters as much as colour.
Practice
Creativity and structure, held in balance
Jurga grew up among artists and medics, learning early to value imagination alongside careful observation. She completed a Master of Art at the Art Academy in Vilnius, Lithuania, worked as a creative director, and studied Sumi-e—Japanese ink painting and calligraphy—at the school of D. Doksaite.
She moved to London in 2004, where she now lives, paints and teaches.
Watercolour
Everyday objects, flowers and sacred architecture distilled through atmosphere, negative space and fluid colour.
Ink
Minimal, expressive works made through the irreversible movement of ink across rice and mulberry paper.
Oil
Abstract, dream-like colour fields that leave room for memory and the viewer’s own associations.
